In 1862, gold was discovered near Hahns Peak, just north of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and the village was established in 1866. The remote location and absence of rich gold veins made it difficult for prospectors to turn a profit near Hahns Peak. Although several mines did open, a real “gold rush” to the area never truly materialized. None the less, people stayed in the area for its beauty, and the ability to prosper in the area by farming.

In the 1960's the near ghost town was revived with prospectors of adventure. The summers offer tourist and locals the ability to enjoy water sport activities, along with great hikes and bike rides. During the winter you can sled or cross country ski in any direction out of the parking lot, even making it to Wyoming. The wildlife in the area offer anglers and hunters a year round haven. The Hahns Peak Village is a paradise that has been enjoyed by many for nearly 160 years!
